23rd Annual Anesthesia Update
February 14-29 2010, Big Sky, Montana

SAVE THE DATE - DETAILS TO FOLLOW

2009 was another successful year for the Anesthesia Update, organized by the Department of Anesthesia at Stanford University in conjunction with Stanford Hospital & Clinics.

In response to numerous requests for additional skiing, dining, and family-friendly activities, the 2010 event will again be held at Big Sky Resort in Big Sky, Montana. With nearly 60% more skiable terrain than our previous location at Copper Mountain, Big Sky offers three mountains graced by over 400 inches of annual snowfall to delight skiers and snowboarders of all ages and abilities, walking-distance dining choices, and family-friendly fun including a tubing park, ice skating, and an optional tour of Yellowstone National Park. Our President’s Day week timing coincides with most winter breaks, making the conference even more family-oriented.

Faculty recruitment was a spectacular success for 2009, resulting in another group of nationally and internationally recognized experts in general anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, preoperative anesthesia assessment, critical care medicine, risk management, regional anesthesia and pain management.  The topics selected incorporate essential updates for both the practicing anesthesia generalist and the subspecialty practitioner, and include intraoperative awareness, anaphylaxis and anaphylactoid reactions, transfusion practices, perioperative pain management, and the benefits and risks of opioids. Recertification and maintenance of certification will be covered, and accreditation for four units of Risk Management (of particular importance to Massachusetts physicians) is pending.

Our “Clinical Forums” evening sessions will once again present attendees the opportunity to discuss and debate various complex anesthesia scenarios with one another and the conference faculty, and advance submission of cases for discussion is encouraged. Please contact us if you are interested.

The goal of the 22nd Annual Stanford Anesthesia Update is to provide a first-class educational experience in a pleasing and family-oriented environment. We look forward to welcoming you.
